How to pay your levies

By the Estate Plaza teamChecked against official Queensland sourcesGeneral information, not legal advice

Everything you need to pay is on your levy notice: the amount, the due date, the ways you can pay and your payment reference. Use one of the payment options shown on the notice and quote the reference exactly as printed, so your payment is matched to your lot.

What’s on your levy notice

  • the amount due for your lot, and the due date
  • the payment options for your scheme, and your payment reference number
  • any discount the body corporate offers for paying on time, and any penalty for paying late

Payment options can differ between schemes, so always use the details on your own notice rather than a notice from another property.

Viewing and paying online

Estate Plaza uses Urbanise, a strata management platform with its own payment system. Through Urbanise’s owner portal, owners can see their levy notices and pay. If you’re not sure how to get into the portal, contact our office.

When levies are due

Each year the AGM adopts the budgets and sets the levies, including the number of instalments and the due dates. You must be given written notice at least 30 days before each levy is due. Where the body corporate has set a discount for paying on time, the official guidance says it cannot be more than 20% of the instalment. If the body corporate charges simple penalty interest on overdue amounts, the official guidance caps it at 2.5% a month.

Can’t pay on time? Call us early

If you’re having trouble paying, contact us before the due date rather than after it. Overdue levies can attract penalty interest and recovery action, and the earlier we know, the more options there are to talk through.
